Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Successful completion of a practical nursing program from a recognized Canadian institution.
  2. Proof of an unencumbered and unrestricted license with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan (CLPNS).
  3. Admission is competitive, based on the last 30 credit hours of approved post-secondary courses presented.
  4. A minimum AGPA of 65.00% is required.

For admission purposes, a recognized institution in Canada is one that is a member of either Colleges & Institutes Canada or Universities Canada. A recognized institution outside of Canada is one that offers University or College-level programming, and is authorized by the government in that country. The University of Regina follows the Pan-Canadian Quality Assurance Framework for the Assessment of International Academic Credentials.

How to Apply

  1. Applications will be accepted from October 1 to January 31.
  2. Fill out the undergraduate application for admission on the University of Regina’s Application Management portal 
    • If you have not previously used the online application, you will create a new login ID and password
    • For application level, choose Undergraduate
    • For application type choose Upper Years/LPN to BScN Pathway/After Degree Nursing Program
    • For Planned Program of Study choose: SCBScN – LPN to BScN Pathway
  3. Pay the $100 application fee (you may select ‘Pay later’ if you have paid this fee previously), please refer to “Application Fee” section for details.

Applicants must declare all post-secondary institutions attended for any length of time. Failure to disclose attendance at any post-secondary institution will lead to cancellation of your application, or withdrawal from the program.

*Note: Students may also be subject to a $100 transfer credit assessment fee in addition to the application fee.

Application Fee

There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 which must be submitted with your application form. If you are applying online, payments can only be made using a credit card.

If you are a current or former University of Regina student, you are not required to pay this application fee; however, you must provide your University of Regina student identification number for verification and check off the box on the application form indicating that you are a current/former University of Regina student.

Required Documents & Submission Deadlines

As the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a competitive-entry programs, applicants often require a higher average than the minimum average required for admission. Please see previous year’s cut-off averages below based on applicants and capacity.

Official Post Secondary Transcripts

All post-secondary education must be declared on your application with official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions accompanying your application. See University of Regina for details. All post secondary transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution attended to the University of Regina by January 31. If an applicant attends another institution after submitting their application to the SCBScN program, they are required to notify the University of Regina. A transcript from the attended institution must be received by August 1. All applicants who have completed post-secondary coursework must be considered in good standing (i.e. not on faculty or university level probation) at the University of Regina or former academic institution as of the start date of the program to retain their seat.

Admission will be revoked if an application form is found to be inaccurate or incomplete, or if supporting documents are discovered to be fraudulent. Transfer credit will not be awarded for courses taken at institutions not listed on application forms or if an applicant fails to notify the University of Regina of courses completed after submitting their application.


Current College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Saskatchewan (CLPNS) License and Registration Number

The proof of current Saskatchewan practicing licensure must be submitted to the Admission Office: enrolment.services@uregina.ca by the January 31st deadline.


Equity Seats

If you are a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit applicant, you may qualify for an equity seat if you provide one of the following forms of verification:

  • Certificate of Indian Status
  • Métis Membership Card
  • Letter of confirmation of Indigenous ancestry from either your Band’s Indian Registry Administrator or Métis Local

Applicants with Indigenous citizenship should submit their proof of citizenship to the Admission Office at enrolment.services@uregina.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions

Post Secondary Courses

Applicants who are enrolled in post-secondary courses at the time of application, must submit a subsequent, final transcript by August 1 (in addition to the transcript received January 31).

Applicants with outstanding grades at another post-secondary institution as of August 1 will be required to have an additional transcript submitted to the University of Regina by September 1.

Notification of admission will begin in late spring.

Applicants admitted to the LPN to SCBScN pathway will receive the following transfer credit block of 36 credit hours. This transfer credit block is granted upon completion of an approved practical nursing program and current licensure as a Saskatchewan LPN:

No additional transfer credit will be granted for courses completed as part of an applicant’s practical nursing program. If an applicant has completed courses in addition to their practical nursing diploma or another institution, additional transfer credit will be considered.
