Applying for the SCBScN Program for High School Graduates or Current Adult 12 Students or Adult 12 Graduates
The SCBScN program is a direct entry program for high school graduates. The program allows students to complete their nursing education in four years, while also gaining hands-on experience in each year of the program. his program is built as a 4-year, full-time program, where students will typically complete 5 courses or 15 credits hours a term. Students may also be required to attend practice education placements outside of Regina and Saskatoon.
There is one intake per year, with applications opening on October 1st.

More Program Details
Admission Requirements
Applicants who have completed Grade 12, or who are currently enrolled in the Adult 12 program in Saskatchewan, or have completed the Adult 12 program, must present the following courses for admission to the program:
- One of English Language Arts A 30, Francais Franskaskois A 30 or Francais Immersion 30
- One of English Language Arts B 30, Francais Franskaskois B 30 or Francais Immersion 30
- One of Foundations of Math 30, Pre-Calculus 30, or Calculus 30
- Biology 30
- Chemistry 30
A minimum grade of 70% is required in each of the above required courses. Applicants with the highest admission average will be selected for the program.
Please note: Saskatchewan high school students can present math requirements under the new and/or former curriculum. The previous Saskatchewan mathematics courses of Math A30, Math B30 or Math C30 will be accepted.
Students applying from other Canadian provinces need to present equivalent courses.
Applicants from other Canadian provinces or other countries may present the equivalent course(s) at the secondary or post-secondary level. You can refer to High School Admissions Requirements for equivalent out-of-province high school courses and international high school equivalents.
GED will not be accepted in lieu of Grade 12.
Applicants must meet the English Language Proficiency Requirements as outlined under Additional Information & Frequently Asked Questions.
All applicants who have completed post-secondary course work must be considered in good standing (ie. not on faculty or university level probation) at the University of Regina or former academic institution as of the start date of the program to retain their seat.

Site Choice & Program Option
Submit only one application each year and indicate one site preference (Regina or Saskatoon). Applicants are accepted on the basis of their competitive admission average and number of seats available at each location.
If you become waitlisted at your location of choice and a seat becomes available to you at a different site, you will be contacted and offered that seat at the alternative site.
Applicants for the Bilingual Program Option should indicate in the appropriate place on the application form (Online or Paper) that they are applying for the Bilingual Program Option. An applicant may apply for both the Bilingual Program Option and regular SCBScN program.
Application Fee
There is a non-refundable application fee of $100 which must be submitted with your application form. If you are applying online, payments can only be made using a credit card.
If you are a current or former University of Regina student, you are not required to pay this application fee; however, you must provide your University of Regina student identification number for verification and check off the box on the application form indicating that you are a current/former University of Regina student.
Required Documents & Submission Deadlines
As the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a competitive-entry programs, applicants often require a higher average than the minimum average required for admission. Please see previous year’s cut-off averages below based on applicants and capacity.

Official High School Transcripts
Applicants who graduated high school in Saskatchewan, are upgrading high school courses, or who are enrolled in the Adult 12 program, must request their transcript to be sent electronically directly via the Ministry of Education to Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Graduates of an out of province high school must request the Ministry of Education in that province/territory to mail their transcript directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic. High school transcripts must be received by March 15.
Official Post Secondary Transcripts
If you are a high school graduate with less than 15 credit hours of post-secondary attempted, all high school admission requirements must be completed, an official high school transcript submitted to Saskatchewan Polytechnic and all post-secondary education must be declared on your application with official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions accompanying your application.
All post-secondary transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution attended to Saskatchewan Polytechnic by March 15. If an applicant attends another institution after submitting their application to the SCBScN program, they are required to notify Saskatchewan Polytechnic. A transcript from the attended institution must be received by August 1.
If you are an international applicant, all official transcripts (high school and post-secondary) must be submitted by January 31.
Admission will be revoked if an application form is found to be inaccurate or incomplete, or if supporting documents are discovered to be fraudulent. Transfer credit will not be awarded for courses taken at institutions not listed on application forms or if an applicant fails to notify Saskatchewan Polytechnic of courses completed after submitting their application.
English Language Proficiency
The language of instruction at the University of Regina is English. All applicants to the University of Regina must therefore demonstrate an appropriate level of proficiency in the English language. See University of Regina for details.
Equity Seats
If you are a First Nation, Métis, or Inuit applicant, you may qualify for an equity seat if you provide one of the following forms of verification:
- Certificate of Indian Status
- Métis Membership Card
- Letter of confirmation of Indigenous ancestry from either your Band’s Indian Registry Administrator or Métis Local

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I am currently taking courses?
High School Courses
Applicants who are currently upgrading a required high school subject must notify Saskatchewan Polytechnic of which subject(s) they are currently upgrading. Their official high school transcript reflecting the upgraded mark(s), and all final marks from the Adult 12 program, must be received by March 15.
Post Secondary Courses
Applicants who are currently upgrading a required high school subject with a post-secondary equivalent must submit an official post-secondary transcript by March 15.
Applicants who are enrolled in post-secondary courses at the time of application, must submit a subsequent, final transcript by August 1 (in addition to the transcript submission by March 15).
Applicants with outstanding grades at another post-secondary institution as of August 1 will be required to have an additional transcript submitted to Saskatchewan Polytechnic by September 1.
Decision and notification of successful applicants
All decisions will be made after the application deadline. Initial admission offers will be communicated electronically using the “applicant tab” on your mySaskPolytech account, prior to mid-April. Please ensure that you are checking your account frequently, or direct communication to an account that you do use frequently. Unless otherwise stated, you typically have 15 days to respond to any further requests. The deadline for responding to the offer of admission is noted in your letter of offer. Admission to the SCBScN program is competitive, therefore only students with the highest admission average will be selected. Applicants are accepted on the basis of their competitive admission average and number of seats available at their identified location.
How to Check the Status of Your Application
To check the status of your application, simply follow these steps:
- Log in to your mysaskpolytech account
- From the menu, choose the Applicant tab, and view “Now That You’ve Applied” section
- Choose Create and review your application status
- From the application menu, choose which application you wish to view
- The application summary will list the term, program, decision status, and requirements
- For full details, please ensure to read your letters for additional requirements that may be listed
Students can take the following courses prior to being admitted to the program:

If you have attempted 15 or more credit hours of approved post-secondary education by the application deadline for the SCBScN program, you will be considered a post-secondary applicant.
What to do if I want to lighten the course load in the first year of nursing?
You may lighten your course load in your first year and raise your UGPA by completing the Nursing Readiness Certificate which is offered through the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at the University of Regina. For more information on this certificate and admission requirements, please visit the Centre for Continuing Education website.
If you have attempted 15 or more credit hours of approved post-secondary education by the application deadline for the SCBScN program, you will be considered a post-secondary applicant. Completion of one of these certificates does not guarantee admission into the SCBScN program.
